According to BBC, the death toll from the earthquake that occurred in the border region of Turkey and Syria a week ago has exceeded 41,000. Rescuers rescued nine people alive on Tuesday alone. UNICEF, a United Nations organization working in the field of children, estimated that 4.5 million children in Turkey and 2.5 million in Syria were affected by the earthquake. An earthquake of 7.8 magnitude occurred with its epicenter at the location. Soon after, there was an aftershock of 7.5 magnitude. The search and rescue work of those affected by the earthquake is continuing.
11 lorries carrying relief materials entered Syria only on Tuesday through Turkey, the officials of the United Nations have said. Officials said that the victims of the earthquake are in urgent need of clothes and food. Various countries have sent rescuers and relief materials to Turkey and Syria. The government of Nepal has also sent 22 tons of relief materials to Turkey on February 13th.
